DTT WIKI Annoucment

(2/16/09)

Dear DTT Members,

We are preparing to build a version of the Dosimetry Training Tool into a WIKI and would like to invite a selection of our members to participate in the development process. If you have any experience in HTML or WIKI coding we want to hear from you.

The development of the DTT WIKI will allow our users to play a more active role in creating material for the Dosimetry Training Tool Community and give our International users the opportunity to begin the process of translating the DTT content into their language of choice. In addition to translation, we will be able to provide our users with the ability to add new content, images, movies, publications, reference resources, and almost any type of media.

The development process for such an undertaking will not be easy and cannot be done by us alone. We hope that by having you participate we can provide our users with an opportunity to be part of creating the most comprehensive Dosimetry Training resource available on the internet.

In order to maintain some type of organization and structure to the development process I would like to extend an open invitation to either students and/or mentors that would be interested in participating in the development process. We would need volunteers for the following functions:

  • Content Migration: These individuals would be responsible for assisting us in porting over existing didactic material from the current DTT portal to the DTT WIKI. WIKI code formatting would be required.
  • Image Management: These individuals would be responsible for image quality control and assisting the Content Migration team in verifying that the DTT images have been ported over to the WIKI correctly, ensure that images are not copyrighten, and provide new images when needed. Knowledge of image software products like Adobe Photoshop or vector graphic development would be required.
  • Module Managers: We will need to assign qualified individuals to manage each of the modules as they are being migrated and provide their domain knowledge towards vetting the content prior to opening the material to the community for global editing and translation. Module Managers must be Physicists or veteran CMDs.
  • Advisory Board Members: These 5 positions will only be available to Members that have had a long standing relationship with the DTT. Requirement for this opportunity would be to advise the DTT staff on the appropriate actions needed to help facilitate the migration process, recommend incentives for participants and provide feedback and suggestions on items required for a successful release to the DTT subscriber community.

As in any WIKI initiative, this undertaking will require the efforts of our members, and for those of you who participate we will do everything in our power to provide incentives to show our appreciation. For now we need to gather motivated individuals who can help assist us in creating an innovative Dosimetry environment.

If you have an interest in this initiative please contact us at: dttwiki@dosimetrytrainingtool.com and inform us how you would like to participate.
